Shabbas HaGadol in 15 secular communities
We held minyanim with special Baalei Tefilla conducting Shabbos HaGadol services and Rabbeim giving the Shabbos Hagadol Shiur. We warmly connected with members of these communities—a rehearsal for Pesach! During the Shabbos we also shared with them many explanations of the Haggadah.

Hagalat Keilim not just for Pesach and the Rest of the Year
Chametz utensils (as well as non-kosher utensils) can be immersed in boiling water (hagalat keilim) to purge them of any traces of chametz that may have accumulated during the year. Three days before Pesach, we held hagalat keilim—public koshering of utensils, pots, pans, silverware, etc. in 28 Moshavim and Kibbutzim throughout Israel. We did it for them, not only for Pesach but so they can have kosher keilim and G-d willing observe kashrut year-round. By koshering their keilim these families can invite and receive relatives who would otherwise not be able to join them for Pesach or the rest of the year! Hagalat Keilim is familiar to men who served in the Israeli Army because it is a major production on Israeli Army bases every year.

Yeshivat Bein Hasmanim in Modi’in
During the past ten years we have been working in Modi’in, we mekareved 150 young men through our Kollel/Beis Medrash program there. They now learn in yeshivas throughout Israel. Many come from secular homes, so during the period between Yeshiva sessions known as “Bein Hasmanim,” we provide them with a warm supportive learning atmosphere, where they continue their Torah Studies and Tefillos. Among their teachers were Rabbi Dovid Lau, Chief Ashkenzic Rabbi of Israel and Rabbi Yitzhock Ezrachi, Rosh Yeshiva of the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. These boys call the Beis Medrash where they learn their “bayit”—i.e., their home. They spend the entire day in our beish medrash! We are very proud to have this opportunity to support them with sleeping accommodations, shiurim and meals.

Mobil Schul in Kibbutz Eilon
Eilon is a secular kibbutz (originally affiliated with Hashomer Hatzair) in northern Israel. Located a mile south of Lebanese border and six miles east of the Mediterranean coast, the kibbutz sits on a ridge between two streams, Nahal Betzet and Nahal Kziv. We have had a program in the Kibbutz for the past five years. This week the members voted as to whether or not they wanted a Schul, 2/3 were against and 1/3 for it (approximately 80 people). We met with the one-third who were interested. A SCHUL WAS SO IMPORTANT TO THEM, they decided to have mobile Schul in backyard of one of the members’ homes! Now we are looking to buy a complete Schul on wheels! May G-d grant us success in this endeavor.
