From the valleys I called you Hashem - מהעמקים קראתיך השם
This past week and a half marked a record for Hachnasat Sefer Torah by Ayelet Hahsachar.
Three locations in northern Israel celebrated the Torah: Maayan Bruch - Emek Hachullah, Ramat Zvi - Emek Yizrael and Tzofit in the Sharon area.
Each place had its own unique story but Maayan Baruch had a very interesting new development. The Kibbutz had a recent vote to decide whether to build a synagogue in the kibbutz and the vote came as 81 against and 69 for a synagogue.
The decision was against a synagogue yet the members of the kibbutz wanted to do Hachnast Sefer Torah and bring a Torah into the kibbutz.
The ironic nature of these two facts go hand in hand and the celebrations were joyous and cheerful.
