68 men, women and children filled two buses to Jerusalem during Chanukah this year. Candle lighting took place at the home of Rav Shmuel Bloom and his son-in-law the well-known Rav, Rabbi Rabinowitz. Members of the moshav were astounded by the tables filled with a wonderful display of foods, and by the kindness of their hosts. The evening included song and dance.
Continuing to 45 Hakablan Street, the home of the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef z'tzl, members of the group were invited into his inner sanctuary. Some were too awed to go inside, but those who did, were extremely affected by the experience. Among other stories, HaRav Ovadia's grandson told the group how the Rabbi would sit there, learning Torah, until the wee hours of the morning. This was the first visit of it's kind to the house since his passing.
Continuing to Nachlaot and Shaarei Chesed, members of the group were moved to see the chanukah candles lit in all the windows. The tour ended at the Machaneh Yehuda market.
Their final stop was 'Yeshivat Ashrei Ha Ish' in Bayit Vegan where HaRav Zvi ben Porat spoke to the hearts and minds of those present in an outstanding drasha.
Returning to the moshav, the group held their own candle-lighting ceremony accompanied by refreshments.
