The Chavrutah World City Project which we intend to expand to major Israeli population cities would serve to creat a cohesive Israeli World Community.

Our aim is to find ways of reconnecting Israelis and their children, often lost to their identity, and sadly, even to their people through intermarriage.

In our eyes this is the responsibility of both Diaspora Jews and Israeli Jews who care about their brethren.

Our goal is to make contact with Israelis living abroad, to bridge between Israelis abroad and Israelis in Eretz Yisrael to maintain Hebrew as a language for their children and give them a deeper understanding of their Jewish roots.

To this end, we wish to pair Israelis abroad with Israelis in Israel for regular phone contact, modelled on our highly successful Israeli Chavrutah Program.

Our successful Chavrutah Program involves over 16,000 participants who, through weekly phone conversations enhance their understanding of their Jewish roots and what it means to them now in the 21st century.

What is Chavrutah?
Chavrutah Israel is a program run by Ayelet Hashachar who's aim is to foster friendship and understanding among Israelis of differeing cultural backgrounds through Jewish identity and education.

The brainchild of Director Rabbi Shlomo Raanan, it was established in the Spring of 2005

8000 partners in learning participate in the weekly phone study calls, sponsored and organized by Ayelet Hashachar Chavrutah Staff in our Jerusalem-based offices.

In the space of 7 years, what started as a good idea has blossomed into a country-wide success.

The Israeli Chavrutah Office comprises 12 permanent staff members trained to match viable study partners according to age, background and educational levels.

The team comprises fully trained men and women who initiate and maintain the chavrutah learning schedules, match study pairs, provide back-up information where necessary, maintain contact with participants including regular assessment and success rates.

Study topics are chosen by each couple, while material and phone expenses are covered by the organization.

In a world where hatred seems to occupy the front pages, we aim to change the look of Israelis society through friendship and understanding, the finding of common ground and joint goals.
