HELPING OUR OWN: AH AND THE SPERLING FAMILY
Dina Sperling has been a volunteer in our Chavruta program for several years. Sunday, February 14, 2016, there was deadly/tragic bus crash here in Eretz Yisroel. R”L seven people were killed and many were injured. One of the most severely injured is Dina’s daughter, Sarah bas Dina, a bride-to-be, whose wedding date is 9-Mar. 2016. Her condition was upgraded from critical to “moderate but stable.” Rav Kanievsky Schlita told the family not to change the wedding date. AH is davening for Sarah’s complete recovery and for her to be able to dance at her wedding. AH will be sending money to help the family with the current crush of expenses.

IT’S ALMOST PURIM!!!
Each year Purim presents us with a unique opportunity: we reach out to communities where we’ve never been before and to communities not necessarily approachable on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. We bring Yeshiva Students and religious families from all over the country who deliver Shalach Manos, put on Purim “Spiels” (comic plays) hold Megillah Readings spreading great joy and making our first connection with such communities that had no connection to their Jewish heritage. We also “check where community members are holding” to determine whether we can provide them with a Pesach Seder. In some of these communities, we moved from our “Purim connection” begun six years ago to discussing building Synagogues there!

CHANGING OF THE GUARD AT KIBBUTZ MA’AYAN BARUCH
Kibbutz Ma'ayan Baruch is located near the intersection of the Israeli, Syrian and Lebanese border close to the Banias. The kibbutz was founded in March 1947 by among others, members of the HaTenua HaMeuhedet youth movement, members of Habonim, and members of a group of pioneering soldiers from South Africa who fought in the British Army during World War II.
Three years ago, we moved a religious family to the Kibbutz. The head of that religious family was just appointed to the position of Rabbi in Bik’at HaYarden in the Jordan Valley! The goodbye party for the Rabbi and his family was punctuated with tears, heartfelt good wishes for their success and overwhelming compliments of a job superbly done. Without further ado, we are “changing the guards” at Kibbutz Ma’ayan Baruch and sending a new religious family to lead the community. Attached is a link to a movie from Kibbutz Ma’ayan Baruch.

DEDICATION OF SYNAGOGUE AND TORAH AT KIBBUTZ KFAR MENACHEM
Three hundred people attended the Dedication! Dignitaries included Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau and Mr. Kurt Rothschild who both attended and spoke. Kibbutz Kfar Menachem is a Hashomer Hatzair Kibbutz located in the center of Israel not far from Kibbutz Chofetz Chaim.
After five years of working together with the community with all the “ups and downs involved” including much fear and resistance to the idea of having a synagogue, we celebrated the dedication with genuine joy and awe. Ze Hayom Asa Hashem Nagila, v’nismicha bo!
